Al Pacino still has that Shrek phone case.

In a clip shared by BBC News Oct. 15 while promoting his memoir Sonny Boy, the actor spoke about his iPhone case, decorated with the animated ogre.

"Of all the things Al Pacino would have on his phone cover, I was not expecting Shrek," BBC Correspondent Colin Paterson said. "Who would be expecting Shrek?" Pacino, 84, said with a laugh, showing off a close-up of the cover, tangled in his headphone wires.

When asked to explain "why you Shrek it," Pacino revealed that his daughter Olivia gave him the unique case after she asked to borrow his phone. "When she came back, she had this on it," motioning to the Shrek case.

"She said, 'It's Shrek, dad!' I said, 'Shrek?' Wow. Okay babe, I'll hold onto it.' "

"Absolute legend. He doesn’t care what it was, it’s the fact that his daughter gave it to him and he’s a proud father," another commented of his enthusiasm for his daughter's gift. "He just made it legendary by being who he is and asking who would’ve expected that"

"Please let Al Pacino play a bad guy on shrek 5," one begged, referring to the Shrek Cinematic Universe's upcoming installment.

Pacino has had the Shrek phone case for at least two years. Eagle-eyed fans spotted it on the table in a photograph of him out with Jason Momoa in April 2022 and it went viral.

The Scarface actor didn't realize what was on his phone case until it broke the internet. "I didn’t even look at it until social media told me what was on my phone, and I took a look and said, 'That’s Shrek,' " he said on the Today show in June 2022.
