Star Wars: KOTOR Remake Has an Obvious New Game Plus Cosmetic It Could Reward
Star Wars' KOTOR remake has an iconic gear piece it needs to reprise, and gifting it as a New Game Plus unlock could be the most satisfying way.
BioWare RPGs are all ridiculously successful and have gone on to create massive franchises rivaling anything in their respective science-fiction and fantasy genres. The most memorable part of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, however, has to do with how unique and astonishing its big plot device reveal is. Having gone through KOTOR with a customized protagonist character whose balance on the light or dark side of the Force is fully decided by the player, it is a neat twist to then disclose that players were an amnesiac Darth Revan the entire time.
Like any huge twist like this, playing through KOTOR numerous times may not be as drastically satisfying as it was on that first playthrough since fans will already know its biggest reveal. That said, it can be fun to go back and see how transparent characters were in their conversations with Revan, clueing into dialogue that is more apparent that time around. This is an opportunity that the KOTOR remake will afford once more, and the remake should include a rare gift for players that do decide to hop into a second playthrough in New Game Plus.

Revan's robes aren't inaccessible in KOTOR, but they are easily missable depending on players’ predilection for the Force and how they chose to attune their stats. Likewise, they are not available until the end of the game. This makes for an incredibly rewarding endgame gear piece collection if players had dedicated themselves toward the dark side of the Force.
Therefore, the KOTOR remake could implement this gear piece in one of two ways: players could have to acquire it the same way, which would only likely be advantageous to fans who know how to get it in the original game; or it could be granted to players automatically if they had beaten the game while attuned to the dark side. In either case, the choice to lean toward the dark side is paramount.
Players know their character's original identity long before the game actually ends, and completing the story and beginning a New Game Plus playthrough would be incredible if fans could don Revan's robes from the time they land on KOTOR's Taris. This would be a much simpler way of collecting Revan's robes and wouldn't require players to already have a bunch of prerequisite stats involved, though repeating that means of acquiring the robes could still be satisfying.
Either way, Revan's robes are a wonderful incentive for players to turn to the dark side and allow those dialogue options to affect the characters they meet throughout the galaxy, but being able to miss out on them on a first playthrough can be tragic, especially when players have to get all the way to the Star Forge to loot them. If players know that they need to endure another entire playthrough on the dark side in order to have an opportunity to grab these robes, that might incite more disinterest in casual fans.
Instead, making Revan's robes an automatic reward for finishing the game on the dark side would mean they need to beat the game initially, of course, but also mean that they can start a New Game Plus playthrough with the robes already in their inventory. There are many other ways the KOTOR remake could decide to implement Revan's iconic armor, let alone any of the other classic features and mechanics that the original game possesses. In the meantime, fans still have the original to reflect upon and consider other features they would like to see reinterpreted in the remake, regardless of which developer's lap it lands on.
