Bridgerton’s Yerin Ha Details “Roller Coaster” 10-Day Casting Process

Nov 01, 2024

Yerin Ha, who will star opposite Luke Thompson in Bridgerton Season four, told E! News what the casting process for the hit Netflix show was like at the Dune: Prophecy premiere.

Yerin Ha is ready to be the object of Benedict Bridgerton’s desires.Just one month after Netflix confirmed that Luke Thompson’s fan-favorite second Bridgerton brother would be the central focus on season four in July, Yerin was named as his leading lady Sophie Baek. And as the 29-year-old recalled, the process was quite the whirlwind experience.

“What’s funny is it all happened so quickly,” Yerin exclusively told E! News at the Oct. 30 premiere of Dune: Prophecy in New York City. “It all happened within the span of 10 days from my first audition to hearing that I got the role.”The Dune: Prophecy star added, “So, it was emotionally a roller coaster.”

Season four of Bridgerton is based on Julia Quinn's An Offer From a Gentleman—the third book in the series—and follows Benedict as he meets the mysterious Lady in Silver, only to catch up with her again two years later, unaware that she is the woman he has spent years pining for.

But while the Netflix series hasn’t been afraid to make some departures from the books in its three previous seasons, Yerin teased a crucial element that will be featured on the small screen. As she put it, “You will see the Lady in Silver, and you will see a love story!”

Yerin isn’t the only new cast member joining the ever-expanding Bridgerton family for season four. She will be joined by Harry Potter alum Katie Leung, who will play Sophie’s boss, Araminta Gun, a twice-married, twice-widowed mother of two who is debuting her two daughters—Rosamund Li (played by Michelle Mao) and Posy Li (Isabella Wei)—on the marriage mart.

Although viewers won’t see the love story play out on screen for a little while as the season is still in production, Yerin and Luke are already teasing what fans can expect.

"What's striking about season four is that it's the struggle between a proper old-school fairy tale," Luke previously told Netflix's Tudum. "The romance of it, and the actual reality of the world. And both are true. You have to hold both of them—the romance and the reality—in your hand. In its best version, ‘true love' happens in the middle of that."
