Cedar Point selling away pieces of this roller coaster to guests
SANDUSKY, Ohio (WKRC) - Cedar Point is selling away pieces of a roller coaster to guests.
Cedar Point's official website shows that an unusual item can be purchased by guests. Per the site, the park is inviting guests to "own a piece of history" by purchasing a piece of the original Maverick track.
"Did you know that when Maverick was first constructed, it contained a heartline roll element after the second launch? That piece was replaced with an s-curve element to reduce stress on the trains, but the heartline roll track remained intact and was relocated into storage," the website reads.
According to Cedar Point, 390 pieces have been created out the removed heartline roll. Each contain a certificate of authenticity that has been signed by Cedar Point Vice President and General Manager Carrie Boldman. 100 out of the 390 have also been signed by Sandor Kernacs, a representative from Maverick's manufacturer, IntaRide.
Kernacs was the only person to ever ride Maverick with the removed piece in place.
The track pieces will be sold in-park only. Those interested must head to the Fast Lane sales booth at the main gate as early as 12:00 p.m. Sales begin at 1:00 p.m., according to the site.
Each guest is limited to one piece. Officials said if there are any remaining pieces an announcement would be made on Cedar Point's official X account.
